Since 2015, Scott has been building youth rock bands — guiding students from their very first musical experiences all the way through college auditions and music school applications. Many of his students have gone on to pursue music full-time as college music majors, with Scott providing hands-on preparation for entrance exams and application portfolios.
Scott teaches all levels of guitar and piano, plus beginner to intermediate bass, drums, and voice. He also leads instruction in the recording arts, with deep proficiency in Pro Tools, Logic, and Ableton Live.
A multi-instrumentalist since his teenage years, Scott studied at Berklee College of Music (2003–2007) before spending the next 15 years performing and recording. He co-produced and performed with NYC indie rock group Snowmine, whose 2009 debut Laminate Pet Animal earned regional acclaim — and whose single "Let Me In" accumulated tens of millions of streams and views across Spotify and YouTube.
As an engineer and producer, Scott's work spans major venues and celebrated artists. He has served as house engineer at the Troubadour, Club Spaceland, and the Bitter End, assisted on records by Dave Sitek (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio), the Black Keys, and Philip Glass, and produced work for Hal Leonard, The Metropolitan Opera, and Cherry Lane Print Music.
Scott has taught at the elementary, middle school, high school, and college levels. Prior to founding Austin Rock Academy, Scott taught at Midori and Friends, Swarnabhoomi College of Music, and at Gowanus Music Club, where he directed ensembles, taught private lessons, and founded their recording arts program.
